Cancer

I’m angry, I’m sad
feel so helpless
I’m begging you cancer
don’t take my friend away
You don’t discriminate
you take and take
man, woman, child
a mom, a dad
you just don’t care
Just like the plague
dark cloud above
What if we put
blood on their door-posts
would you pass them over
and
go
away?
You pick the good
the innocent ones
the ones with soul
a purpose in life
Now only one goal
SURVIVE survive
Hello chemo
goodbye hair
eat
don’t eat
no matter
you vomit anyway
I’m cancer-free
oh wait it’s back
cause when you go
you never leave
fear is there
will it come back?
I’m cancer-free
oh wait it’s back
Your mom had it?
Better augment
cut them cut them
hello implants
why take the chance
A lung? A brain?
Perhaps breasts?
Two testicles?
A Pancreas?
Like a kid at a candy store
So many choices
But please please cancer
don’t take my friend away
pass her over
just go away
